I flew to Nashville, KY last Saturday and rode 6 races at Kentucky Downs. The first 3 tried hard but the turf course got the best of there fitness. This turf course is not your ordinary surface. It is lima bean shaped and you go up and done hills and back up to the finish line. It takes a fit horse to be able to finish the race running. I had that in Cloudy's Knight. The race was a mile and a half. My horse is trained by Jonathan Sheppard(the Turf Master). My horse was coming off a year layoff to run in this race. He broke sharp and I didn't rush him the first part of the race. He was wanting to run by the 1 mile mark but I held him back and waited until we go to the top of the stretch, which is only the 3/8ths pole on this turf course, once I let him start running he just over took the field easily and won by 2 1/2 lengths. It was the Kentucky Cup Turf $150,000 Grade 3. I want to thank Jonathan and owner Shirley Schwartz for giving me the opportunity to ride this incredible horse. What a great time I had that day. I got to meet Calvin Borel. What a down to earth great guy.
