Welcome to Jockey Rose!
My first race season at Arlington Park PDF Print E-mail

The meet just started at Arlington Park on May 4, 2012.  I've had great success so far winning 4 races in the fist 4 days of racing.  My decision to move my tack here to Chicago was considering my daughter Victoria Rose.  I didn't want to be riding 7 days a week and day and night.  I want to have time to be a good mother to my growing baby girl.  Eric Reed who is the God Father of Victoria helped a great deal with my decision of where to ride for the summer.  He runs about 80% of his horses here in Arlington Park and I ride the majority of his horses where ever he runs.  I am so happy to be here.  There's 4 days of racing a week so that gives me 3 days to spend with my daughter exploring this new city.

Arlington Park is one of the most beautiful race tracks I have ever been to.

Back in the Saddle Again!

It has been a long year of up and down emotions while being pregnant. Not knowing if I would return to racing. When I got into my finally months of my pregnancy everything seemed grimm because of all the weight that I had gained. I was up to 160 pounds and counting. Fortunately my little princess decided to come 3 weeks early. What an amazing experience and blessing. I had a healthy baby girl. Motherhood is wonderful and I now understand why I've been told there is no stronger love than the love you have for your child.

A week after giving birth I was back in the gym wanting to get my body back. I was determined to get my pre-race jockey figure back. Well after 3 months of hard work at the gym, personal trainer, zumba classes, eating right and galloping and breezing horses for Eric & Kay Reed at Keenland for the last 6 weeks I am finally back in shape and ready to ride. It is an exciting moment in my life to come back to racing again. I miss the excitement and competiveness of the sport. Most of all the Fans and the horses.

I rode my first race on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Churchill Downs on Huxley Winner for Eric Reed.  I finished 5th.  The next day I rode another one for Eric Reed and WON on a filly named Eden Star.  It was so exciting for all of us.  It was the owners first win at Churchill, it was an accomplishment for me because I had to lose over 45 pounds to be able to come back to ride and also get fit again after 10 months of not really doing much.  Eric and Kay Reed have given me so much support thru out my pregnancy and also helped me get fit by having my come up to KY to gallop, jog and breeze between 4 to 7 horses a day at Keenland and at there farm.  I also had to watch my diet and sweat a lot of the extra weight off.  But the reward was the greatest feeling in the world.  I went on to ride a total of 9 races at Churchill for Eric and also Tom Proctor.

I am now back in Tampa vamping up for the Tampa Bay Downs meet starting on December 3.  My agent is Steve Hayes.  We are both excited to get the meet started.  See you in the Winner's Circle!!!

Passion for racing! PDF Print E-mail

You can never Win to many races in this business.  It is the most amazing adrenaline rush you can feel.  My passion for the sport is very intense.  I try and better myself everyday by working horses in the morning, speaking to owners and trainers and practicing on an equicizer(wooden horse) in the jocks room everyday before I ride.  I also watch races from other tracks to watch different riding styles of other jockeys to see if I can pick up anything new to try.  It is a non-stop learning experience to be in this business.  I have to say I can never get bored.  Also all the fans that I meet and greet on a daily basis is also fun.  Hope to see you at the races!
