My mother and father were both Jockeys at one time. My father James Homeister won over 500 races in the late 40's and 50's. My mother rode races in the mid 70's when woman were just breaking into the racing industry as Jockeys. So she had it pretty tough to get the horses she wanted. But she did win one race on a horse named "WINNING NEWS" for Larry Geiger. My mother is my inspiration to wanting to become a Jockey. I was born and raised around the thoroughbred race horses. I was taught at a very young age how to ride and be patient with them. These horses have such great ability. They can reach speeds of up to 40MPH. It's truly amazing. The thrill to be able to ride these magnificiant creatures is mind blowing, and I get to do it everyday. How do you like that?
I have been fortunate enough to ride for some Top Trainers in the industry, such as: Randy & Tracy Nunley, Tom Proctor, Eric Reed, Kenny McPeek, Mike Trombetta, Graham Motion, Jonathan Sheppard, Doug O'Neil, Steve Klesaris, Michael Matz, Nick Zito, Larry Jones, Kathleen O'Connel, Scott Lake, Dickie Small, Chuck Peery, and Hamilton Smith just to name a few. I like to ride for many different trainers as not to put all my eggs in one basket. I love to travel to different race tracks to get exposure and experience on different track surfaces. My work ethic and professionalism has brought my career into it's 18 1/2 year. If you ever want to watch horse racing, flip your tv channel to TVG horse racing TV. They are one of my biggest supporters. WWW.TVG.COM If your wondering why I have the Jr. on the end of my name, Rosemary B. Homeister Jr., well it all began because my mother and I have the same exact first, middle and last name. When I started my riding career the public thought that my mother was training and riding for other trainers. This caused a conflict of interest with the bettors. So I came up with the idea to put the Jr. at the end of my name and it stuck. I am legally not a Jr. only in racing.

It was the height of the market when I jumped in so I had a great year. It was fun to learn something new. I am with Coral Shores Realty, Inc. Since I have come back to racing I have not been able to do much real estate but at least I have something to fall back on. I love learning new things, reading books to educate my self about finances and the economy, meeting new people and keeping a Positive outlook on my future. Life is what you make it. So Dream big and keep moving forward. My favorite books are "THE SECRET", "TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER" by Dave Ramsey, "FABULOCITY" by Kimora Lee Simmons (Baby Phat) and "TWILIGHT" series by Stephanie Meyer |

My racing career began at Calder Race Course on March 20, 1992. After only 2 months into my riding career I moved my tack to Monmouth Park, New Jersey, where I became the Leading apprentice Jockey for two straight seasons 1992-1993. I won my first Stakes race on my birthday (July 5, 1992) on Reassaurus for Butch Richards. Winning 172 races in my first year in racing helped launch my career and establish myself as a top rider at an early age of 19. I was the First Woman to be honored with the well coveted Eclipse Award for Outstanding Apprentice Jockey that year(1992). I am best known for my signature KISS I blow to the camera after every Win. That KISS goes out to my grandparents, Frank Sangi (92) and Phyllis Sangi (89) who has watched me ride and has supported me from the very start of my racing career. My mother Rosemary Homeister Sr is a well established trainer at Calder Race Course and taught me every aspect of racing and is still one of my biggest supporters. My mother rides me on all of her race horses with winning results.
