So many things go on daily at the race track. Things are always changing. Its like being on a roller coaster ride - sometimes your up and sometimes your down. Learning how to take it all in stride is a constant.
I knew going in that coming to Oaklawn Park for the winter was going to be a challenging one. Its a very tough meet to break into because the trainers that come here are very loyal to the jockeys that they ride. I admire that. So for me it started out slow for business but as the meet is winding down I am starting to pick up new business and winning. On Saturday, April 6, I rode two and WIN 2 races for Trainer Ingrid Mason. (thats 5 wins for her so far at the meet) Ingrid is also heading back to Arlington Park for the summer. Then yesterday I rode 4 races and WON 2(trainers Larry Rivelli and Kelly Von Hemel) and had a second. The feeling you get when you win is undescribeable. But I can tell you this there is no feeling like it except for the birth of my daughter, Victoria Rose, of course. (its definitely second to her) I would just like to say THANK YOU to every Trainer and Owner that gave me the opportunity to ride for them here. I will definitely be back next year. Hot Springs is a beautiful place and the people here are so warm and pleasant to be around. Also, did I mention the water? I was buying bottled water until I found out about the actual HOT SPRINGS water center. The best water I have ever tasted. I will definitely miss that. Two attractions that are a must see here are the CLINTON LIBRARY and GARVAN GARDENS. I really had a great experience here and look forward to coming back next year, but I am ready to get back to ARLINGTON PARK for there summer meet.
