Coming into the Hawthorne meet I have a new agent, Tim Hanisch. Penny and I parted ways only because I will be leaving the Hawthorne meet early to take some time off and get prepared to ride at Oaklawn Park again this winter.
In racing, changing agents is a common event that takes place, especially when you are moving your tack to a different state for a season or your just wanting to try someone different or if business is not going the way you want it to go. Every agent has a different characteristic they can bring to the table. They can either make you or break you. Ultimately, an agent has to have a good product(Jockey) to sell.
I have been very fortunate to have had many good agents thru out my career.
Going into the Hawthorne meet I am feeling very confident because my agent and I started out with a good foundation towards the end of the Arlington meet. Opening weekend I won one race and was 50% in the money with the horses that I rode.
Going into the second week of the meet, I will be riding an average of 5 horses a day giving me more opportunities to win. We are also riding for the right trainers.
Stay tuned for more racing info and insight on being a jockey!
See you at the races!
