My trip was successful in Keenland yesterday. I rode in the 1 1/2 miles Turf $125,000 Grade 3 Sycamore Stakes on Cloudys Knight and prevailed in the final yards to beat Ramon Dominguez at the wire. Now that is a great accomplishment. Ramon is a first class jockey and is the leading jockey in the country. He had claimed an objection on me because we had bumped the last few jumps to the wire. Fortunately for me it was the horse inside of Ramon that caused chain reaction. I was happy that I had won but kind of felt deflated because Ramon had said I have to claim foul Rose. I didn't say anything just galloped out and tried to replay the race in my head and see if I was the cause of the bumping. I thought that Ramon's horse had knocked into my horses hind end causing him to turn in and bump Ramon's horse back the last two jumps. But I wasn't sure. I just didn't want to get to happy in case I were to get disqualifed. Galloping back the crowd was yelling congratulations to me and I was waving to them. It was such a great feeling the energy of the crowd but still couldn't get to excited until I knew the race was official. When I got to the groom and Jonathan's assistant Barry I asked what he thought happened. Barry said it wasn't your fault, it came from the inside horse. I jumped off and ran to the phone to speak to the stewards about the incident. I looked up at the board and they were showing the replay of the incident so I was able to see where the pressure started and was able to speak my case to the stewards with confidence. They saw it the way I felt it. My horse got knocked sideways from behind causing him to turn in slightly. It was made official. Woohoo! I was so excited and smiling from ear to ear. Jonathan Sheppard was elated with the result and very proud of me on how I rode his horse to victory. The owner Shirley was also very happy. This is her gentle giant Cloudy. She has had him from a baby. The breeders were also there so it made for a great day and also made this my first win in Keenland. Thank you to all who were cheering me on. It is so exciting to fly in to a track and ride against some of the top riders in the country and come out a winner. I got a great reception from the jocks when I got back into the room. I will be buying the Jocks room in Keenland pizza's today. I am on my way back to Maryland to ride 5 races at Laurel Park. See you at the races!
